| The Nuggets grabbed the lead down the stretch but could not hold the Lakers back in a 107-101 loss on Apr. 28 to bow out of the playoffs. J.R. Smith led Denver with 26 points, while Allen Iverson added 22 for the Nuggets. |
FUUUUUUUUUDGE NUGGETS!!!
THE DENVER NUGGETS LOST THE BATTLE VS THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS - YET AGAIN. I REALLY WASN'T HOPING FOR A MIRACLE (NUGGETS WINNING THE SERIES IN ROUND 1), BUT I WAS SERIOUSLY HOPING FOR A WIN IN GAME 3 AT HOME.
IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
WE GAVE UP.
WHY DID WE GIVE UP?
I'M WATCHING THE GAME FOR THE SECOND TIME RIGHT NOW. MAYBE I'LL COME UP WITH AN ANSWER TO THIS EXISTENTIAL PREDICAMENT.
FOR NOW - DON'T BOTHER CALLING ME. I'M TOO DEPRESSED TO TALK.
here's some fotos I took at the game. most are taken before I got super depressed.
True friends are those who, when you make a fool of yourself, don't believe that this condition is permanent.

Such is the case when friends insist that Kobe Bryant will overpower Allen Iverson in the Playoffs.
You know who you are.

DENVER, Apr. 14 -- Denver Nuggets guard Allen Iverson was named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, April 7 through Sunday, April 13 the NBA announced today.
Iverson led the Nuggets to a 3-1 record, including two key victories at Golden State and vs. Houston to aid the Nuggets 2008 playoff hopes. Iverson averaged 28.8 ppg on .533 (40-75) shooting from the field, while he also tallied 6.8 apg and 4.8 rpg in 42.0 mpg, which included a 48-minute outing at Golden State on 4/10.
This marks the 23rd time in Iverson's career that he has garnered this honor, while it is his third in the Western Conference and third as a Denver Nugget. He was also named Western Conference Player of the Week earlier this season on Nov. 19 (for games played from Nov. 12 through Nov. 18) and on Jan. 7 (for games played from Dec. 31 through Jan. 6).
Iverson joins Carmelo Anthony and Alex English as the only players in Nuggets history to have won the award multiple times during the same season. Anthony has done so three separate years, including 2007-08 (two POW honors), while English did so on two separate occasions (two POW honors in both 1982-83 and ’85-86). Iverson’s three POW awards this year tie Anthony’s team record for POW honors in a single season (2006-07). The five combined POW honors between Iverson and Anthony this season mark a team-record for the most during a single season.
According to an unofficial all-time awards list from the NBA, Iverson is now tied with Karl Malone for the second most POW honors all-time in NBA history, trailing only Michael Jordan’s 25.
Games Played 4/7 – 4/13:
FUCK YEAH. I'M ALWAYS IN A FANTASTIC MOOD WHEN THE NUGGETS WIN. [114-105 OVER GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS]
I FOUND MYSELF JUMPING UP AND DOWN ON MY COUCH, MILLER HIGH LIFE IN HAND, SCREAMING AND CAT-CALLING AT MY TV. MY NEIGHBORS MUST THINK I'M SLIGHTLY PSYCHOTIC, BUT THEN AGAIN, THEY'RE SENIOR CITIZENS THAT AREN'T SO GOOD IN THE HEARING DEPARTMENT.
WHY AM I SO OBSESSED WITH THIS TEAM?
I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT TONIGHT.
WHEN WE'RE YOUNGER, WE'RE ASKED WHO OUR ROLE MODELS ARE. A LOT OF PEOPLE SAY THEIR PARENTS OR FAMOUS ACTORS OR SOME DUDE FRONTIN' A ROCK BAND. I ALWAYS THOUGHT I HAD ROLE MODELS IN MY LIFE, BUT I NEVER FELT QUITE RIGHT ABOUT IT. I'VE ALWAYS HAD MANY PEOPLE I LOOK UP TO, FOR THEIR SUCCESSES AND THEIR FAME. BUT SOMETHING WAS ALWAYS MISSING...
ENTER ALLEN IVERSON. A.I. THE ANSWER. BUBBA CHUCK.
THIS GUY HAS FACED HUGE CHALLENGES. ALL SORTS OF CHALLENGES. NOT ONLY DID HE PERSEVERE, HE REIGNED MOTHA FUCKIN' SUPREME. HE BEAT THE ODDS. HE DIDN'T LET THE MAN GET HIM DOWN. INSTEAD, HE LOOKED THAT GUY SQUARE IN THE EYES AND DIDN'T FLINCH. AND THEN HE WENT IN FOR A GLORIOUS FAKE AND MADE A BEAUTIFUL SHOT. NOTHIN' BUT NET.
THROUGH ALL THE STRUGGLE, THROUGH ALL THE PERSEVERANCE, THROUGH ALL THE GAME AND ALL THE HYPE, HE DID IT HIS WAY. HE STAYED TRUE TO HIMSELF. HE DIDN'T FORGET HIS ROOTS AND NEVER LOOKED BACK. HE MADE GOALS. HE KEPT HIS PROMISES. HE DIDN'T LET HIS FAMILY DOWN. HE MADE IT. AND HE BROUGHT EVERYONE UP WITH HIM.
NO. I'M NOT AN ATHLETE. I TELL YOU THIS THOUGH, I LEARN A LOT ABOUT LIFE BY THINKING LIKE AN ATHLETE. BY SEEING THEM IN MOTION AND TRYING TO PLACE MYSELF IN THAT SITUATION. IVERSON IS AN AMAZING PLAYER. HE'S NOT THE KINDA GUY THAT SITS AROUND AND SHOOTS FOR HOURS ON END. HE'S A CEREBRAL PLAYER. HE MENTALLY PLACES HIMSELF IN SITUATIONS AND FIGURES OUT HIS STRATEGY BEFORE THE BALL HAS A CHANCE TO HIT THE COURT.
BACK IN THE DAY IT WAS ALL ABOUT - BE LIKE MIKE.
TODAY, I'VE FOUND 'THE ANSWER'.
IN THE WORDS OF AHMAD -
I WISH I WAS A BALLER..........
SEEING ALLEN IVERSON PLAY LIVE FOR A CROWD OF B-BALL FANATICS MAKES ME STOKED. NO, HE WASN'T THE ONLY STAR OF THE GAME. I GOTTA GIVE MAD PROPS TO MELO, JR SMITH, KMART, KLEIZA, NAJERA [MY PERSONAL FAVE] AND BIG UPS TO NENE FOR COMING BACK AFTER WINNING HIS BATTLE OVER CANCER.
I WANT TO SEE THE DENVER NUGGETS IN THE PLAYOFFS. THIS IS TRULY A SEASON TO REMEMBER. AND I AM SO HONORED TO BE A PART OF IT.
ROCK IT DON'T STOP IT, NUGGETS.
YOU'VE GOT THE ANSWER.
**IF YOU FIND YOURSELF CURRENTLY OBSESSED WITH THE ODYSSEY THAT IS ALLEN IVERSON**

CLEVELAND (AP) — LeBron James is striking a pose.
The Cleveland Cavaliers' superstar will appear on the April cover of Vogue, joining actors Richard Gere and George Clooney as the only men to do so in the influential fashion magazine's 116-year history.
Wearing a tank top, shorts and sneakers from his own Nike clothing line, James appears on the cover dribbling a basketball and screaming as if in game mode while throwing one arm around supermodel Gisele Bundchen with Tom Brady nowhere to be found.
The pairing of the All-Star forward and the runway icon was shot in January by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz in James' hometown of Akron, Ohio.
Vogue is featuring athletes and models in an annual issue devoted to size and shape. The 6-foot-9 James and 5-foot-11 Bundchen, who dates Patriots star quarterback Brady, were a natural pairing.
``Nobody says more about fashion size and shape than Gisele and LeBron,'' Vogue spokesman Patrick O'Connell said. ``LeBron is an amazing star and athlete that has crossed over into a cultural phenomena.''
Being on the cover of a sports magazine is nothing new to James, who first appeared on Sports Illustrated's front as a 17-year-old high school junior in 2002 next to the presumptuous title of ``The Chosen One.'' He is currently one of 11 athletes appearing on the cover of ESPN The Magazine's 10th anniversary issue.
However, as his popularity and visibility broaden, James has recently been featured on the covers of Fortune, Men's Health and Black Enterprise.
